Hope...

Hope. A beautiful word in the English language. Without hope, people are in dispair, whether you live in Minnesota or Haiti. Today we went to Cite Soleil, one of the worst slums in the Western Hemisphere. Hope is often in disguise and you have to look hard to find it. Today I saw hope in some of the beautiful children, children who played freely in the water, in people who lined up for water and we helped carry it back to their home. There was hope in the mom who took some of the water and scrubbed her daughters hair in the middle if the street and she looked so pretty in her corn braids. Hope was where in some areas it seemed cleaner and the most hope of all was when we walked out to the dump and envisioned a church someday soon standing there. There is a wonderful verse that says, "hope in The Lord," sometimes when you have nothing you are reminded that, that is all we need.
